Far North Swordfish
Team Furuno fishos Hayden Lynskey and Ted Myers left Auckland in the early hours of Friday 31 July destined for the Garden Patch and a date with their first broadbill swordfish.
Launching at Whangaroa they steamed to the Garden Patch, found some likely structure on their FCV 295 and lined a drift up on their Navnet3D. It didn't long before their line went slack, indicating a bite from a broadbill swordfish.
The fish came straight to the surface charging the boat!
A hearty scrap later on the boys boated their first ever swordfish, which weighed in at Whangaroa at 243kg! Nice work boys!
